“Chris,” I said, “I own a small manufacturing company. It’s not huge, but it’s stable. We make automotive parts. I need someone with an engineering background who understands how things work. I’m not offering charity. I’m offering a job. A real job. With a salary and benefits. You’d have to start at the bottom, but if you’re as sharp as I think you are, you’ll move up fast.”
