I nodded slowly, still processing.

“Why didn’t the doctors see it?” I asked. “They ran every test imaginable. Scans, lights, charts. They all said the same thing.”

Amelia looked down at her hands.

“I don’t know, sir. Maybe the tests weren’t designed for whatever condition she has. Maybe she just learned to hide it. Some children adapt in ways we don’t understand.”
